Music at Markington School

'The sheer joy of music making can feed the soul of a school community, enriching each student while strengthening the shared bonds of support and trust which make a great school.'

(The Model Music Curriculum).

Our Music curriculum uses both the Charanga online learning tool and elements of the Model Music Curriculum. We believe musical techniques and skills can be nurtured and developed in all pupils, through all Key Stages. These skills may be expressed instrumentally, vocally or through music technology.

Our children enjoy timetabled weekly music lessons, participate in peripatetic music lessons (currently violin and guitar); audition for Ripon Cathedral Choir; and enjoy a curriculum where we make meaningful links between music and the rest of the curriculum, loving and sharing the joy of music.
