PSHE - Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

Markington CE Primary and Nursery School believes that a strong PSHE education is important to help our pupils develop into well-rounded members of society, who can make a positive contribution to their community and who have the knowledge to make informed choices. We give our children a PSHE education which equips them with a sound understanding of risk,  and the knowledge and skills necessary to make safe and informed decisions, preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.

We have a whole-school approach to PSHE which meets the DfE statutory requirements, including Relationship & Health Education, and our bespoke curriculum is based on the resources from Coram Life Education.  It also aligned to our Relationship and Sex Education Policy, and Online Safety Policy. It promotes the social, moral, spiritual and cultural development of children and young people promoting positive behaviour, mental health, wellbeing, resilience and achievement as our children progress through school, in a carefully designed sequence of learning.

Our spiral curriculum is built on six key areas (see below), which build pupil's knowledge progressively as they move through school.  It ensures they get opportunities to learn more, age-appropriate knowledge, whilst also revisiting key aspects.

We have a specific Safeguarding Curriculum, which is in addition to our PSHE and other wider curriculum learning - for more information please click here

What do the children say?

“It is all just safe, safe, safe all the way!”
